Bangor, ME – The Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestras (BSYO) will present their fall concert on Sunday, December 4th at 4 p.m. at Bangor High School’s Peakes Auditorium. The concert will feature performances by the Prelude String Orchestra, the Prelude Chamber Winds, and the Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductors Sascha Zaburdaeva and Trevor Marcho.
The December 4th concert will open the BSYO’s 2016-17 season and feature over 100 young musicians from across Central Maine. Sunday’s program will include a range of works by composers including Brahms, Dvorak, and Elgar, as well as a new original composition by members of the Prelude String Orchestra.

Through a continuing partnership with the Good Shepherd Food Bank, the concert will also be a food drive, dubbed a “Symphony of Cereal.” Audience members are asked to bring donations of cereal to the event for the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which serves more than 100 local agencies in Penobscot County.
Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. A donation of $5/person is encouraged upon admission. Following the concert, there will be a reception in the cafeteria.
