Wren Saunders, bassoon
Two 18th century composers, both revolutionaries in their own right, created sparkling works that still connect today
What’s Interesting About This Concert
- For the first time in its history, the BSO performs the music of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who was born into slavery in the French West Indies and navigated France’s colonial “Code Noir” for a swashbuckling life of fencing, music, and revolution
- The BSO’s own principal bassoonist Wren Saunders takes center stage in Mozart’s beloved Bassoon Concerto
