- Italian pianist Roberto Plano makes his BSO debut in Beethoven’s magnificent Piano Concerto. No. 4
- Dvořák’s Carnival Overture depicts a wild celebration unfolding in real time, with the composer writing, “On every side is heard the clangor of instruments, mingled with shouts of joy and the unrestrained hilarity of people giving vent to their feelings in the songs and dance tunes.”
- This concert marks the retirement of percussionist Bernard “Billy” Miller after a remarkable 65 year career
