Bangor, ME — On Saturday, February 11, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra (BSO) held the finalists’ recital of the 42nd annual Maine High School Concerto Competition at Minsky Recital Hall in Orono. Congratulations to Benjamin Rosenthal, violinist from Damariscotta, for receiving the 1st Place Annas-Cup Award, including a $500 scholarship, for his performance of Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. Benjamin will now go on to perform as soloist with the BSO at the Young People’s Concerts on May 15, 2023.
The 2023 jury included BSO Music Director & Conductor Lucas Richman; UMaine Orchestra Director & Professor of Violin, Anatole Wieck; and Wren Saunders, Principal Bassoonist of the BSO, Artist Faculty in Bassoon at University of Southern Maine.
