Bangor Symphony Orchestra Kicks Off 129th Season

BANGOR, Maine – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is set to kick off the
2024-2025 Season with a weekend of events.

A Season-Opening Dinner will officially get the 129th season underway on Saturday,
Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bangor Arts Exchange. The BSO will offer dinner, a toast to
the new season, and a concert featuring Pianist Jon Kimura Parker with Musical
Director and Conductor Lucas Richman, and Concertmaster Mitchell Newman. The
season officially gets underway on Sunday at the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono
with “Masterworks I: Jon Kimura Parker Plays Beethoven.” World-renowned pianist Jon
Kimura Parker, a distinguished professor from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice
University, will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5, “Emperor.”

“I am thrilled to work with Maestro Lucas Richman again, and absolutely ecstatic to
bring Beethoven’s masterpiece, the “Emperor” Piano Concerto, to Bangor,” said Jon
Kimura Parker.

The concert will also feature Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2 and Schumann’s
Symphony No.3, “Rhenish.”

“Is there a better way to start our 129th Season than with dinner and a show?” said
Lucas Richman. “I’m excited to be able to collaborate with Jon Kimura Parker for both of
these events, and our audience will be thrilled by these performances.”

Tickets for the Saturday evening dinner and concert, and the Sunday season opener are
